Dear Supporters and Friends of Galaxy Music Theatre,
It has been a while since you have heard anything from us, and we here at Galaxy felt it was time we let you know what is going on with us.
It has been nearly a year since we last produced what was meant to be an annual production of Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration . I am sad to report that we have made the painful, yet right decision to cancel this year's presentation. There were several things that led to this decision, most importantly casting difficulties and lack of proper funding. If nothing else, Galaxy has been known for the quality of its work and we just didn't feel that the stars were in alignment for us to give a presentation that met our mission and was worthy of our audiences.
As you are all probably aware, the economy has been hard on everyone, individual and businesses alike. The arts are no exception to this. A company with no permanent home and little funding, such as Galaxy, finds it especially difficult to continue on when we are not able to provide consistent and regular programming.
All that being said, you may ask, “What is the future for Galaxy?” Galaxy's Board of Directors feels it is best that we remain “on hiatus” for the time being. The Board will continue to meet on a quarterly basis and will concentrate on seeking out new members with specific skills that can help put us on a path toward financial strength and growth.
In the mean time, our website will be updated to reflect our current status and will be maintained throughout our transition period, as will our post office box.
If you, or anyone that you know, have skills in fundraising, grant writing, marketing or any other area that would lend to the growth of a non-profit arts organization, and are interested in serving in a position on the Galaxy Music Theatre Board of Directors, please contact me at your earliest convenience at 404-314-3010, or craig@galaxymusictheatre.com .
Thanks to all of you who have supported Galaxy over the last 12 years. We look forward to being able to return to you with the quality musical theatre presentations you like to see as soon as possible. In the mean time, we pray that each of you has a joyous holiday season and a prosperous new year.
